Welcome to The Fisherman’s Arms free house. We're one of Plymouth’s oldest pubs and a real hidden gem, being located a few minutes walk from the historic and vibrant Barbican.
Situated on Lambhay Street which is just above the Mayflower Steps in the area where the 14th century Plymouth Castle used to stand, we're proud of the pub's historic character with part of the castle walls inside the pub.
It's furnished attractively with an open fire, oak floors, candlelit tables, comfortable seating and lots of cosy tables. We offer real ales, great value food and drink and aim for everyone to feel a part of our pub community. On fine days, we have street tables and chairs - perfect for soaking up the sunshine in the afternoon and evening.

We're dog friendly - in fact the pub's Miniature Schnauzer, Mr Jones, is often on hand to oversee dog manoeuvres and to ensure that our own beer, brewed just for us by Plymouth brewer Summerskills and named after himself, is served in tip top condition!

Delicious Food
The Fishermans Arms menu has been 9 years in the making, always evolving by listening to our customers feedback. Donna and her team are proud to offer for 2023 an exciting new look menu, something familiar and something new. A classic selection of great pub food sit alongside some new and exciting dishes all served up by our in-house chefs. Our menu will tempt you with appetisers and satisfying main courses from our extremely popular classics like a Tray Baked Steak and Mr Jones Ale Baked Pie to our Fishermans Gumbo whose recipe is a closely guarded secret! The indulgent will definitely want to finish with one of our stunning desserts… All our meals are prepared freshly for you so don’t expect fast food, we are more fab food. Wherever possible, we’re supported through the supply of local, fresh ingredients with fish & seafood from Rex Down, vegetables from Martin Holmes and meat from Jones & Champion.

Of course, we have a great selection of drinks, we are a pub after all! What we can offer on top of this is probably the biggest selection of whiskeys in Plymouth with over 60 single malt and blended Scottish whiskies to over 50 whiskys and bourbons from around the world and we are constantly adding new and exciting bottles to that list. We also have an extensive selection of Gins, Rums, Vodkas and Liqueurs to choose from which we incorporate into our many handmade cocktails. Proudly serving Plymouth Gin and many other local suppliers from the South West including The Fishermans own Mr Jones Ale brewed exclusively by Summerskills brewery, we also have a variety of local and worldly popular draft products from Salcombe Pale Ale to German wheat beer Erdinger you will always find something to wet your whistle.
